I WROTE THIS ONE MAY 4, 2011

Royal Pains

Royal Pains is a refreshing and colorful series perfect for its summer setting in the Hamptons. The story
revolves around a young and brilliant ER doctor who finds himself in a fix as a very important client
dies and was wrongly blamed for the death. From New York, he moves the Hamptons and becomes
a physician for the pampered elite. Aside from attending to the medical whims of his more privileged
clients, he also treats the area’s less privileged individuals. He now ends up treading the line between
serving others and serving himself.

The story spins off with its main protagonist, Dr. Hank Lawson, a first-rate Manhattan doctor who seems
to have everything at his fingertips! He has an incredibly sexy fiancé, a spacious high end apartment,
and a great high paying job! However, his luck turns sour when he makes a fateful decision in the ER,
the choice was the right one, however, he was used a scape goat by the hospital and had him fired from
work and blacklisted in other choice medical institutions. Aside from losing his job, his superficial fiance
dumps him and leaves him eating his less than savoury cereal, lounging in the couch watching sitcoms,
and become the epitome of a bum.

Luckily, while being depressed and full of self- pity, Lawson’s brother whisked him away to the sunny
retreat of the rich and wealthy in the Hamptons where he met another physician tending to the health
care needs of the poorer residents in the area. Hank Lawson now has 2 jobs, one working the wealthy
and another on the side to serve the less wealthy. In his stay in the Hamptons, he catered to his latest
set of spoiled rich clients where he receives most of his dough while serving the less fortunate on the
side where he learns that there is more to life than money.

Happy Endings (comedy series)

Happy Endings is a comedy show recently aired in April 2011 as a “midseason replacement”. The story
revolves around the 6 main casts, where two are married to each other and the rest are friends. The
story’s main plot is when their circle of friendship is rocked and tested by the separation of two of their
friends, Alex and Dave, the couple who was responsible for bringing the whole gang together. Everyone
now ends up in a situation where they have to make a decision on whether they can maintain the bond
of friends or going their own separate ways. Although the original couple chose to stay as pals, what
they did not anticipate what the more unexpected complications and rollercoaster rides along the way!

The main cast of Happy Endings are as follows:

1. Dave, who was left standing on the altar on his wedding day by Alex, his fiance.
2. Alex, Dave’s fiance who stood him up on their wedding day.
3. Jane, Alex’s sister who’s married to Brad and is eager to start a family with him before her sister
gets married to dave
4. Brad, husband to Jane who faithfully does everything she asks of him despite his own
reservations

5. Max, Dave’s closest pal who recently came clean to his parents with him being gay.
6. Penny Hartz is the company’s single and desperate pal who is always whining about her not
finding her guy.

Happy Ending’s has been compared to the popular hit TV series, ‘Friends” although the show claims
that it is not another sad replica of the said show, articularly when the plot is so different. When asked
on why they have conceptualized the plot if the Happy Endings especially on the wedding hiatus, they
writer and producers say that the show is about rediscovery and finding what it is they really want from
life. Alex’s flight from the altar is a great example of trying to figure out if it is what you want for your
future and on whether it is what you wants for yourself.

The Big Bang Theory

It’s terrific, it’s phenomenal, and it’s a smart- ass series that lives up to everybody’s expectations! Who
ever said that the savvy, fashionable, and the classically elite have the monopoly on high rating TV
shows? In this TV Sitcom, the geeks rule!...and it looks cool, too!

The Big Bang Theory is a unique genre of TV series highlights the dorkier, less fabulous yet intellectually
hilarious life of four geniuses: Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, and Howard, and their next- door neighbour,
Penny. The American sitcom was a collaboration of Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady who also serve as the
show’s executive producers together with Steve Molaro. It follows the life of two genius roommates,
experimental physicist Leonard Hofstadter who is at constant odds with his roommate, and theoretical
physicist Sheldon Cooper, a prodigy who has the highest IQ of them all; Sheldon and Leonard’s equally
geeky co- workers, Howard Wolowitz and Rajeesh Koothrapali who are as geeky and as socially inepts,
and their down- to- earth and practical next door friend, Penny, who also became Leonard’s love
interest one time in the show. Their eventual and sad fallout became one of the major plots in the show.

This American comedy sitcom was so popular and well received by the public that the show won the
best comedy series TCA award and Jim Parsons won the award for individual achievement in comedy,
it even bagged the People's Choice Award for Favorite Comedy. Such achievements are not easily
achievable, the show had to seek the professional advice of David Saltzberg, a professor of physics
and astronomy at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is responsible for inspecting the show’s
scripts, mathematical equations, and diagrams utilized in the show. The show’s producers are even
thinking of a problem which Sheldon will be working on as the sitcom progresses.
